Subterranean Solitude: Portraits of TTC Riders Print Series

Captured in the soft, atmospheric depth of graphite, my series serves as the anchor for exploring the quiet, interior lives of Toronto’s commuters. The work finds its soul in the "in-between" moments of the morning/evening communting—focusing on the heavy postures and contemplative gaze people have as they navigate the city’s transit system.

Through meticulous shading and a focus on anatomical realism, I highlight the contrast between the rigid, metallic environment of the subway and the soft, human vulnerability of its passengers. My studies are a tribute to the silent dignity found in the daily grind, turning a routine TTC trip into a cinematic moment of reflection.
